Isaak's music may be described as a blend of country, blues, rock and roll, pop and surf rock.

He signed the contract to Warner Brothers Records in 1984 for his first album Silvertone. Isaak's contract was renewed inside 1988 while Warner Brothers moved him to their Reprise Records label. His right-known song is "Wicked Game". Though discharged on the 1989 album Heart Shaped World, an instrumental version of the song was late featured in the David Lynch film Wild at Heart (and as well years late in the 2000 film The Family Man). An Atlantthe radio station DJ began swimming a to the full version & it quickly became a united states-countrywide top tenner hit. A music streaming video for the song was directed by Herb Ritts and was a large MTV and VH1 hit; shot in black & white, it starred Isaak & model Helena Christensen rolling on the bevery, embracing and whispering within each others' ears.

Within 1999, Isaak's "Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing" was featured within Stanley Kubrick's final film Eyes Wide Shut, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

Within 2001, Chris Isaak starred in his have television program, A Chris Isaak Indicate. It aired from either March 2001 to March 2004 in the United States on the cable television network Showtime. A indicate featured Chris Isaak & his band swimming themselves by having a episode plots according to fictitious accounts of a backstage globe of Chris Isaak - the rock star in the adjacent apartment.

Isaak's longtime producer, Erik Jacobsen, was implemental around his healthy for Fifteen years. Jacobsen is known for his production act by having The Lovin' Spoonful, and solo albums from either Spoon's John Sebastian and Jerry Yester. Isaak ceased working by owning Jacobsen in his 2001 album, Always Got Tonight.
